general information - Linear potentiometer calibration

 

Select your logger from the buttons at the side

Logger Manager:

General Window

Select the logger you want

Channels Window

Select any channel that is free

NOTE – Formula Renualt EVO 3 Users can only choose Channels 4 - 8

Give it a name (eg Front suspension)

Sampling rate 100Hz (recommended at least)

Select Zero Based Potentiometer from the pull down menu

Enter the Lower and Upper Bounds expected to be seen

Click on the Transmit button

Click on the Calibrate button

Calibration Window

Click on the blue Calibrate button next to the channel you wish to calibrate

Sensor Calibration Window

1. With the suspension potentiometer connected, and the vehicle in normal static conditions, click on the GET RAW VALUE button for the ZERO POSITION

2. Measure the length of the potentiometer's stroke

3. Disconnect one end of the potentiometer from the vehicle

4. Move the stroke of the potentiometer a known distance in the direction you would define as positive displacement (eg) Move the stroke of the potentiometer a known distance in the direction you would define as positive displacement (eg) 10mm 10mm

5. Click on the GET RAW VALUE button for the HIGH POSITION

6. Enter the distance moved in the text box for the HIGH POSITION (eg 10)

7. The actual displacement will now appear in the measure box

8. Make sure that the potentiometer is mounted correctly to record the full range of suspension travel in both directions

9.Make sure that the positive and negative travel measures add up to the travel of the potentiometer (eg 100mm positive plus 50mm negative suspension travel for a 150mm potentiometer)

10. Click on the OK button

Calibration Window

Click on the red Transmit calibration button

System Manager

Repeat the process for remaining potentiometers
