The MCL measures lap time using an infrared transmitter and receiver. The beacon transmitter should be placed on the pit wall near the start/finish line.
The MCL display can hold up to 480 laps and has an auto-power-off function to help conserve batteries when it's not being used. The two coin cell batteries (included) are able to power the lap timer for about one season of racing.
