Comparisons within the same
test
To see where, and how much
time a driver is gaining/losing over the duration of a lap, the
Time Compare function is
required.
To load the
Time Compare window you are required to have a track map loaded for the test
you are interested in.If you are unsure how to do this please read the Track
Map documentation.
Once you
have the test and track map open click on
View -> Time Compare
Click on the
tab for the file you are interested in.Note that it automatically selects the
fastest lap and the lap previous.
The fastest
lap is known as the reference lap and it is shown as the horizontal axis. All
other open laps are shown compared to this lap.
To
add/remove a lap in the Time Compare
window, simply click on the lap button which you are interested in.To change
the colour of the shown lap, click on the colour box. Note that above the graph
there is a key showing the lap information.
The Time Compare can have up
to eight different laps open at the same time so that key areas can be quickly
identified. Anywhere a lap is below the horizontal axis is where that lap is
faster than the reference. Anywhere a lap is above the horizontal axis is where
that lap is slower than the reference. Note if you click at any point on the
graph, the gap to the reference is shown in the key above the graph.

Comparing laps from different files
f you want to compare lap
times from different drivers or different sessions, you must have both files
open and a track map loaded.
Again open
the Time Compare Window.
This time
click on the Test Compare tab.You can
have upto four tests open, with a total of eight
laps shown.
Note: here it automatically
selects the fastest lap in each test. Again the fastest lap is the
reference.

Viewing a time compare on the distance
overlay
Previously we have seen how to
look at a time compare by itself, however this only shows the where the time is
lost but not how. To do this the time compare must be viewed with the distance
overlay.
With the
files you are interested in open, left click on
View -> Plot vs Distance
With the distance overlay now open, left click on
Options -> Plot Settings
This will open the
Plot Settings window. As well as
being able to edit the appearance of the distance overlay, you can enable the
time compare by ticking the Show
time compare in distance view (whenever possible) box.

Now the time compare for the
current selected laps will appear at the bottom of the distance
overlay.
To add a lap to the time compare first make sure the lap is
open in the distance overlay, and second click on the lap in the time compare
segment in the measures window.
Note that the time gap will
appear to the right of the lap time button in the time compare area of the
measures window.
